Beer Bag Tutorial Revisit
Last week I made a recycled denim shopping tote for my son-in-law Andrew. This week I crafted a Beer Bag for my very good friend Rosey.
You can see my original post about making beer bags here. Or just click here to download the free tutorial.
Rosey’s going through a difficult time and a couple of our friends decided to throw her a birthday party. Her favorite color is purple. I didn’t have any purple denim so used some cotton quilting fabric. Since I was pairing it with denim which is a much heavier fabric, I put fusible midweight interfacing on the back of the cotton pieces before I stitched them together. I also added the purple coneflower applique. This was block 52 from Pat Sloan from the Splendid Sampler that I did a few years ago. The blocks are no longer available online but you can buy the book.
I loved how it turned out and my friend loved it, too.
It’s called a “beer bag” because it perfectly fits a 6 pack of beer bottles.
Not so much a 4 pack of wine.
As usual, there is a pocket in the bag. Which must have a pocket peep!
This little cutie is a free pattern from Ann Wood Handmade, “very nice mice”. While it can be a mouse, it’s quite easy to turn into a rabbit. Or a raccoon. Or…….I’m sure there are many more possibilities.
I still have several more projects to complete before the middle of May–some softies, two more bags, and maybe dish towels. And then I can get back to working on those unfinished quilts!
