blocks 66, 67, and 68

Blocks 66, 67, and 68 Happy Thoughts by Vanessa Goertzen is block 66.  Yay!  I’m on block 66! That’s a happy thought, right? Block 74 should be released today.  With these blocks finished, I’m only 5 blocks behind! I don’t usually follow the designers color scheme because I’m going with blues and reds but Happy Thoughts was pale blue, dark … ….oh there’s more

Beer Boo Bag

Beer Boo Bag

Terry and I are invited to a Halloween party.  They’ve already decorated the yard. Verrrrry Scarrrrrry! Those are only TWO of the about 100 scary clowns, dolls and zombies that are lurking in every corner and under every bush. I LOVE HALLOWEEN.  THE SCARIER THE BETTER! So I needed to make a really cool hostess gift, right?    Yes! I … ….oh there’s more

Splendid Sampler — Week 22

Blocks 63, 64, and 65 of the Splendid Sampler

Blocks 63, 64, and 65. Applique blocks are so quick and easy.  Block 63, The Icing on the Cake by Kim Christopherson was a fun block. The heart on top, of course, had to be red and then I picked the white with red dots for the icing because I thought it would look like vanilla icing with sprinkles.  Wrong … ….oh there’s more

Baby Rock Star Quilt

Terry and I had a new great nephew back on September 8, 2016.  Just a little more than a month ago. I had planned on making Zachary Ray Green a quilt.  Even had it all designed.  Just never picked out the fabric nor even started it until I got the email that we had a new baby in the family. … ….oh there’s more

Splendid Sampler — Week 21

The Splendid Sampler, Blocks 60, 61, and 62

This week’s first block is number 60, Hearts and Flowers, by Fiona Ransley. It took me about 2 weeks to finish this one since I only work on the embroidery when I’m watching something really boring on TV.  Like news.  Or golf. My embroidery skills have really improved and I don’t approach these blocks with trepidation anymore!  I again used … ….oh there’s more

Just a little leaf

Just a little leaf with Wing & Leaf Charm Pack

It was raining. Last Friday. Perhaps you remember. Perhaps you were in it. Hurricane Matthew. We just got rain and wind because Matthew took a little trip up the east coast of Florida.  And I’m on the west coast.  We didn’t lose power.  But who wants to go out in the rain? I had a lot of design projects started–both sewing … ….oh there’s more

The Splendid Sampler — Week 20

Blocks 57, 58, and 59 of the Splendid Sampler

Another Thursday, another three blocks of the Splendid Sampler completed! First this week, Block 57, Starting Point, designed by Lissa Alexander.  I don’t usually save small scraps of fabric from my projects but I have been from all of Splendid Sampler quilt blocks.  I just throw them in a pile that I’m calling my scrap corner. It was getting kinda cluttered … ….oh there’s more

Quilt as you Go — My Calendar Quilt

Quilt as you Go -- My Calendar Quilt

I finally finished the Quilt as you Go Quilt–Block of the Month Quilt. Even with a couple grandkids here helping me out. Yeah they are a bit of a distraction. Jack discovered the photo board that I made and updated with pics of him. Kendall held still long enough for me to start designing the mermaid tail. We also had … ….oh there’s more

Splendid Sampler — Week 19

Splendid Sampler Week 19, Blocks 54, 55, and 56

I mentioned in my last post that I took my sewing machine in for maintenance and it was gone for five days.  It didn’t have anything really wrong with it and I had been putting off its annual physical and then it quit threading the needle.  I change thread colors way too many times to put up with that!  So, … ….oh there’s more

DIY Quilted Coasters

coasters

My sewing machine was in the doctor’s office. For five days. Five days. It’s better now.  Just needed a little maintenance.  A tiny face-lift. But.  Five days.  Which means, I’m five days behind on all of my sewing projects.  And I have a lot of them. So I decided to make something relatively easy this week. I’ve been planning to make coasters … ….oh there’s more
