DIY Hot Pads

diy hot pads

I started this kitchen linens series back on October 9 with the goal of updating my kitchen with English Garden by Rifle Paper Company. I started out by making an apron and you can check that out here: Another Pretty Apron. Then I went on to potholders and hot pads.  Now I think I need to wait until 2019 to do more … ….oh there’s more

fall into a qal

Happy Thanksgiving! Besides all the many blessings I have to be thankful for…… I finished my Fall Into a Quilt-A-Long quilt top yesterday! Too late to enter for the grand prize that had a deadline of November 12th.  I already feel like I’m a winner because I love all the blocks and the designers have actually reached out to me and … ….oh there’s more

Just some stuff

Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival

I try to post fairly consistently. Cause I have a lot to say! I missed last Thursday because….I dropped a screw inside my sewing machine while I was cleaning it out.  Couldn’t get it.  Tried magnets, tweezers…. (It probably didn’t help when I picked it up and shook it.)  That was the morning that the 44th Annual Homosassa Arts, Crafts, … ….oh there’s more

DIY Potholder with Hanging Loop — Another Version

DIY Potholder with Hanging Loop -- Another Version

Okay, this is the LAST potholder diy.  I’m moving on to hot pads next week. And what is the difference?  I’m saying that a potholder actually holds a pot—for instance it should be useful for grabbing the handle or handles on a hot pan or pot. And a hot pad saves your expensive kitchen surfaces when you set the pot … ….oh there’s more

Fall into a QAL

quilt top

Almost done. Well, it could be done. I decided to frame the blocks with the light tan background with a dark brown and then darker blocks with a happy yellow.  Because I didn’t have enough fabric left to do one color around all of them! The nice thing about framing the blocks this way is that if the block is … ….oh there’s more

DIY Potholder with Hanging Loop

DIY Potholder with Hanging Loop

I’ve been thinking about hostess gifts lately.  A lot.  Because it’s that time of year.  Parties, dinners, events. Since I started making these potholders, I thought that maybe that might be a good gift.  Yes?  Then I started over-thinking the whole leaving the hanging loop off decision I made for the first two potholders. If I was making these as … ….oh there’s more

Quilty Thursday

Quilty Thursday

Yikes. I’ve had a crazy busy week. Besides the holidays peeking at me right around the corner, the 44th Annual Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival is November 10th and 11th.  Terry is the chairperson for the third year.  He is really good at managing the entire thing.  He has so many volunteers.  And everyone works really well together. It’s … ….oh there’s more

DIY Beer Bag

Diy Beer Bag

I’m supposed to be putting more of my kitchen linens up today. But I got distracted. Invited to a UFO party. Which I knew about for over a month but waited until the morning of the party to consider what I was bringing as a hostess gift. I’ve been thinking about hostess gifts lately.  A lot.  Because it’s that time … ….oh there’s more

Sew Many Squares Throw

Sew Many Squares Throw

I’m back to this Riley Blake quilt that was designed to be cut out on the Cricut Maker. All worked out pretty good with the fancy schmancy cutting machine except it was making ragged edges on the pieces until I changed to the denim setting rather than cotton. Yeah, I told you about that last week. Could the blade be … ….oh there’s more

DIY Pretty Potholders

DIY Pretty Potholders

Back to the kitchen. I first mentioned a few weeks ago that I planned on brightening up my kitchen with this Rifle Paper Company fabric English Garden from Cotton & Steel. And I did make an apron! Then I got distracted by the Cricut Maker.  (You will not defeat me, Cricut Maker, do you hear me?!) But I’m back on … ….oh there’s more
