Homemade Facemasks

Homemade facemask

Have you heard about the drive to make facemasks? I had my doubts. (still do) I had read a few articles and have seen bits on TV that the only facemask that works is the medical grade C95 masks. And even those not put on correctly provided little protection. Then earlier this week I had one of our Sew Cool! … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, Blocks 7, 8 and 9

BH3 BLOCK 9

I’m caught up! Well, actually number 10 came out yesterday but I had stuff to do so didn’t get to work on it. Truth be told, I only sew in the wee hours of the morning. The rest of the day is now spent gardening, reading, cooking and napping. Life is good under self-isolation! Very thankful that the Internet is … ….oh there’s more

Wee Wonderfuls -- Fernie Fox

You may already know this. But…. I spend a lot of time volunteering. And in volunteer meetings. And volunteering to do non-profit websites. But mostly, organizing the Old Homosassa Learning Center. That’s my main unpaid job. I’m there a lot and when not there, I’m the one that gets the calls. Friday we decided to go along with the State … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, Block 6

Moda BlockHead 3, Block 6

Block six is from Lisa Bongeon and it is called Magic. And it had so many wee triangles that I made the wise choice to go back to the 12″ size block. Lisa suggests using her triangle papers. Supposed to make half-square triangles (HST) quick and easy. I didn’t have any so just used this tutorial from Beech Tree Lane … ….oh there’s more

Rocker Doll Goes Home!

Rocker Doll Goes Home!

More than six years ago I made my first three “Wee Wonderful Dolls”. Followed by the fourth doll in April of the same year. And they were all so cute–until they lost their hair! Did a bunch of research and gave all the dolls new hairdos along with Halloween costumes. I thought I had finally figured out how to get … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, Block 5 as a Pillow

Posted on March 5, 2020 by Kathy GreenMarch 2, 2020
Moda Blockheads 3, Block 5

Like I said on Tuesday, there are other projects I want to do besides the Moda Blockheads 3 quilt a long. And one of them is a pillow for my bedroom. And I LOVE block 5 so much, I used that pattern for that pillow! I went with this color combo because it matches my “nap” quilt that I keep … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, Block 5

Back to the Moda BlockHeads quilt. Since a new block is released every week, that’s all I’ve been doing in my sewing room. I’m almost caught up. I think that block 8 is released this Wednesday. I’ve got some other projects that I want to work on! The designer for Block 5, the “Love” block, is Brigitte Heitland from Zen … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, Block 4

Moda BlockHead 3, block 4

I’m loving the Moda BlockHeads 3 quilt-a-long. Block 4 is applique and from Jan Patek. If you have been following along with this blog, you know I LOVE applique. This applique uses a “needle turn” method. I don’t know how to do that. And, right now, thought it would just be a lot more fun to do the way I … ….oh there’s more

Roaring 20s for the Tower and a Tote

The Roaring 2020 Party

Almost 6 years ago, I joined the Old Homosassa Heritage Council and became the corresponding secretary/historian/web master/graphic designer. (In a small organization and community, one wears many hats) Our original project was saving the water tower from destruction. Six years of fund raising with t-shirts sales, a scavenger hunt, four galas, and three huge yard sales–the water tower is saved, … ….oh there’s more

Moda BlockHeads 3, My first attempt!

Moda Blockhead 3 block 1

I fell down the rabbit hole and started the Moda BlockHeads 3 quilt-along. Although I still have one quilt that needs finished and another that hasn’t been started–still in the bag that the kit came in. (I don’t think that one counts as an unfinished project!) I had been watching the comments on FB for the blockheads group. Lots of … ….oh there’s more
