Moda Block Heads 3, another four blocks finished!

Moda Block Heads 3

I’ve got 3 quilts going right now. I’m not saying that to impress you. Anyone that quilts has at least that or more. I’m probably a slacker in the quilty world! The nice thing is, I don’t have deadlines for any of them. I would like to get the Christmas Hexie quilt done before the holiday, but it doesn’t really … ….oh there’s more

Quilty Progress

Christmas hexie quilt

This week I’m ALL about progress! A few weeks ago Terry brought a bunch of my unfinished projects down from my former sewing room. This was one of them. This is the beginning of “Scrappy Times 3”. All ready to start stitching together before I fell and smushed my knee. More than seven hundred 2 1/2″ squares. The idea behind … ….oh there’s more

Another Handy Tote

Handy Tote Tutorial

Labor Day is over so summer is over, right? No? It’s over 90 degrees here on the Nature Coast in Florida. And there are a few tropical storms lurking off the coast of Africa. Yet I have hope that some cool breezes will find us soon. And just to speed it along, I thought I’d make another Handy Tote in … ….oh there’s more

Handy Tote Tutorial

handy tote 2020

Finally finished the Handy Tote Tutorial and proof read it about a dozen times but I might have missed something. If you try the tutorial, let me know. Especially let me know if you find any mistakes! Yikes! Like I said last week, this can be an easy-peasy tote. Just leave off the pockets, the key strap, and use cotton … ….oh there’s more

Handy Tote

I’m working on a new tutorial for my Handy Tote. Not quite finished with it. Have to do some proof reading and update some photos. When we had our Sew Cool! Workshop at the Old Homosassa Learning Center, my fellow sewists usually tested my instructions. I don’t have that right now. Hoping to start back up in October. I should … ….oh there’s more

In the Sewing Room

Last week I was CRAZY busy catching up on the Moda Block Heads 3 QAL. But I was doing other stuff, too. Like making hard decisions. My sewing room. It’s been upstairs for a few years now. And I’ve loved having all that space and storage areas. And then the big fall. After six weeks of not going up those … ….oh there’s more

Moda Block Heads 3 — Back at it!

Posted on August 20, 2020 by Kathy GreenAugust 19, 2020 1

It was a CHALLENGE but I finished block 26. Zig Zags. I did the 6″ version. Can’t imagine how long the 12″ would have taken. Usually the bigger the block, the easier, but this one is called an “expand a block” The HSTs are all 1 1/2″ for all the different size versions. You just have to make more or … ….oh there’s more

Quilty Thursday

Christmas Hexies

I think I just might have lost my quilting mojo. I really thought I’d be all caught up with the Moda Block Heads 3 today. And show you all the happy new colorful blocks. Nope. Block 26, Zig Zags by Janet Clare was a hot mess. I was really disappointed with how it turned out and I have no idea … ….oh there’s more

Moda Blockheads 3 — Catching Up

Moda Blockheads 3

The last time I posted about my Moda Blockheads 3 Quilt Along, I posted this photo of all of my blocks thus far. That was the layout I was following from Brigette Heitland. I thought it looked like a hot mess. Just way too much busy-ness. Heavy sigh. I took a temporary leave of absence from the Moda Blockheads 3 … ….oh there’s more

Finished! Yippee! These are some pics from before washing the quilt. I was expecting some shrinkage and after laundering and drying…. It shrunk up just a little. Just enough. Perfect! I quite often give my quilts to friends and family. I’m keeping this one. Love it. It will always remind me of these turbulent times. But I think it will … ….oh there’s more
