DIY Gift Wrap

Posted on December 22, 2020 by Kathy GreenDecember 21, 2020 1

I started seeing on blogs and Pinterest about using fabric for gift wrap at the beginning of the holiday season. My first thought was, “that’s expensive gift wrap”. Seriously. You can use the funny papers. Kids will not care! But then I started thinking about reducing my stash of holiday fabric that I’ve accumulated over the years and it would … ….oh there’s more

Quilt Ladder

quilt ladder

I usually post about my quilt progress on Thursdays but there has been none of that. So instead I thought I’d meander about my new quilt ladder! I have admired quilt ladders for a while. I love having my quilts on display but not really as wall hangings. Right now they are on chairs, the sofa, a trunk. Oh yeah, … ….oh there’s more

Deer Head Softie

Terry and I went to visit daughter Jessica and her husband Andrew for a few weeks. While gone, I didn’t do any blogging. I did do some sewing, though. Jes and Andrew both work from home so she assigned me tasks while she was busy in her office. First was recovering some pillows. I had some help. This is Whiskey. … ….oh there’s more

The Foxes — Finally Finished!

The Foxes -- finally Finished

Let me introduce you to Fannie, Fernie, and Fay. Country Cousins. Finally Finished. (I love me some alliteration!) I bought this pattern from Wee Wonderfuls during the holidays last year. I couldn’t resist that turned up nose and sparkling eyes. It didn’t take long to make the first fox with cotton I had on hand. I had a little trouble … ….oh there’s more

Another Easy-Peasy Pouch

easy peasy pouch update

It’s that time of the year. Time to think about GIFTS! I usually try to pull together several handmade hostess gifts for the holiday festivities. This year there won’t be a lot of celebrating in groups but I still plan to reach out to my friends and family and send small tokens telling them that they are cared for and … ….oh there’s more

moda block heads 3

For today’s Quilty Thursday I have two more blocks completed on the Moda Block Heads 3 QAL. For block 43 from Corey Yoder, “Corner Delight”, I used Beech Tree Lane Handmade’s method to make two sets of the “Make Eight Half Square Triangles” and one of the “Four at a Time“. 20 HSTs. Along with my Quilt in a Day … ….oh there’s more

A Turkey for Turkey Day

A Turkey for Turkey Day

Before I go into how I made these adorable turkeys to add to my Thanksgiving decor, I thought I’d cover a few other issues. Such as, last Tuesday I mentioned that Tropical Storm Eta was on the way and might stop in for a visit here in Old Homosassa. Eta hit a bit north of us. We got a lot … ….oh there’s more

Happy Tuesday!

banana tree

My niece sent me a little banana tree several months ago. From Arizona. Who knew that banana trees grew in Arizona? I’m thinking more like cacti. But, nope. Banana trees, too. I have a few banana trees already and they have not done well. I did some research and discovered that banana trees do not like salt water. When storm … ….oh there’s more

Moda Block Heads 3 Catch up!

Moda Blockheads 3

I was way behind on the block heads QAL because I really didn’t want to do block 37. It has 12 squares and each of those squares have four “stitch & flip” corners. Which I now know are also called “folded corners”. Doesn’t matter what they are called, I can never get them as accurate as they should be. And … ….oh there’s more

“Squirrelly Girl” Pot Holders and a Hot Pad

squirrelly girl

Okay. This is my last big project for the Squirrelly Girl fabric. Cause I ordered 3 yards and all I have now are scraps! You might remember that I had a sawtooth star left from the pillow I made. Cause I didn’t measure correctly. And now it’s a hot pad! How cute is this? I don’t have any fall colored … ….oh there’s more
