August Wrap Up

Posted on August 30, 2022 by Kathy GreenAugust 30, 2022
athena 4 months old

August is just about done. It flew by so fast and hopefully this is just about the end of our wickedly hot and humid summer. Perhaps cooler weather is on its way….or perhaps tropical storms and hurricanes. Time will tell… I usually try to work in the yard a few days a week early in the morning. Gotta say, that … ….oh there’s more

Let’s Go Tote! Updated

let's go tote

I’ve been testing this latest version of the “Let’s Go Tote!” tutorial for over a year. I have made over a dozen bags. I went into my inventory space and said, “I could open a craft booth or an Etsy shop”. That is not my goal. I stitch for fun. All those bags now have a new home! This is … ….oh there’s more

shopping tote

I started making shopping totes over ten years ago. The first post I wrote about the totes was back on June 8, 2012. It’s on my other blog that I don’t update anymore but the posts are still there. You can check it out here! And I’m still using that shopping bag! Since then I’ve made a lot of adjustments … ….oh there’s more

The Perfect Picnic Quilt Finale

Posted on August 11, 2022 by Kathy GreenAugust 10, 2022 2
perfect picnic quilt

Finished! And it’s so pretty! I considered putting canvas or a laminated fabric on the back of the quilt. After all, it is a “picnic” quilt and aren’t picnics on the ground? At least they are on movies and TV shows. But not in Florida! This picnic quilt will be used on a picnic table. Never on the ground. Why? … ….oh there’s more

Perfect Picnic Quilt Progress

Perfect Picnic quilt from Ruby Star Society

This really is an easy peasy quilt. I should have finished it a couple weeks ago but other stuff keeps getting in the way. My time in the sewing room has been limited and it doesn’t help that Athena needs to help me. She is getting better about listening and she isn’t using me for her scratching post anymore but … ….oh there’s more

July wrap up

It’s August 2nd! A few days late for my July wrap up. But here it is….. READS IN JULY I started writing monthly about the books I read to hold me to actually reading books. I have a stack of books on my bookcase that have not yet been read and I thought that’s where I’d start in July. But … ….oh there’s more

Softie Shark Tutorial

It’s SHARK WEEK! The week that the Discovery Channel likes to scare the bejeesus out of their viewers. And in honor of that special week, I like to post about my very cute Shark Pattern. It’s free, it’s fun, it’s easy-peasy. You can download the tutorial here and the pattern here. I keep a supply of softies here to give … ….oh there’s more

RSS Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL

It’s the final week for the Ruby Star Society Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL. And my quilt top is finished! I hung it up in the dining room. It’s way too big for a wall hanging but I just wanted to see how it looks in there so I can make plans for the smaller version. It’s so happy and bright! … ….oh there’s more

Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL–Week 4

Perfect Picnic Quilt RSS

This is “catch-up” week for the Ruby Star Society Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL. I had already finished all of my blocks so thought I would get the entire quilt pieced then start on the wall hanging. Easy-Peasy. The next step which I am assuming is for week 5 is putting the 1,2,3, and 4 blocks into A, B, C, and … ….oh there’s more

Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL–Week 3

blocks for perfect picnic quilt

This week’s assignment for the “Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL” was to complete all of the block 1s. 2s, 3s, and the lonely 4 were done last week. Here is the diagram that I’ve been following from Ruby Star Society: I finished all the blocks. I had to lay them on the guest bedroom’s floor since my design wall is small. … ….oh there’s more
