Dinosaurs Quilt—So Much Progress

dinosaurs quilt

I went off to DC for a long weekend visit with my daughter and her family. That was on March 2nd. The Dinosaurs quilt was a bunch of large blocks at that point. Had a great time. Thought the cherry blossoms might have started coming out. But no. A little too early. But there a lot of other flowering trees … ….oh there’s more

Name Pillow DIY

Dinosaur pillow

I’ve been making these “Name Pillows” for as long as I’ve had grandkids. The oldest just turned 22! So that’s a loooong time! They are usually different for each kid. The one thing they have in common is that they all use a 12″ x 16″ pillow form. Which can be picked up at WalMart, Joannes, or Amazon. And they … ….oh there’s more

February Wrap Up

Okay. This is where I do a bunch of meanderings. About this or that or whatever. I read four books! And I loved them all! They made me remember why I love to read. “Our Missing Hearts” and “Little Fires Everywhere” both by Celeste Ng. Next up was “Happy Go Lucky” by David Sedaris, and a fourth book, “Sharp Objects” … ….oh there’s more

backing and binding fabric for dinosaur quilt

I went to my local quilt shop to buy fabric for the backing and binding. While I fess up to ordering stuff from Etsy, I like to look at these in person to make sure they match up with the quilt. Too many times have I ordered fabric online and am disappointed with it. I also like to walk in … ….oh there’s more

Wall Hanging

wall hanging good day sunshine

I have a drawer that I keep “orphans” in. Oh good lord, not babies, but quilt blocks. Ones that I used for testing or made for a quilt and decided they didn’t really fit in the quilt or a project that I was working on. For instance, the heart quilt blocks were in there. Now they are either in a … ….oh there’s more

Quilty Progress

Posted on February 9, 2023 by Kathy GreenFebruary 9, 2023

A few weeks ago I sent my last finished quilt off to our niece for a gift for her surprise wedding! (Surprise to me, I think she knew about it!) I try to keep a few quilts tucked away just for these occasions. That was the last one in my inventory so I’m starting to think about making a scrappy … ….oh there’s more

January Wrap Up

Happy Groundhog Day! Am I the only one that thinks January lasted like 365 days? It was very cold. It was very hot. Plants died. Others bloomed. I spent a lot of my sewing time cleaning and organizing my creative cave. Not quite done but I’m happy with progress thus far. I’ve moved onto reducing my scrap stash. Turning it … ….oh there’s more

More Hearts

little guy with hearts

A post to follow up on last week’s heart blocks…. If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know I really have a thing for hearts. And stars. Both are used extensively in my quilts and other projects. And since we are approaching the day dedicated to love, thought I’d throw some more hearts here. On Pinterest, one … ….oh there’s more

Heart Block–Scrap Buster!

red hearts

I am slowly sorting through all my Ikea Alex drawers. They are already organized pretty well–I’m just reacquainting myself with their contents. I have one drawer I save for “orphan” blocks. Some of them are test blocks that I will probably never use. Others were not used in a quilt or project because I didn’t think they fit. And others, … ….oh there’s more
