Another week flying by…
Last Tuesday, I fully intended to have a new tote all complete and ready to post today.
But.
Besides doing all the summer holiday weekend chores like getting the deck furniture out and working in the garden, I decided I should spend some time finishing up projects before I started something fresh and much more fun!
First off, I finished the cat blocks. Yippee! Now I just need to put them all together into quilts and pillows!
And then….
I don’t mention it often, but Lauri, my daughter-in-law, and I “renew” old furniture. And I had several pieces that were almost finished. (And I needed to clean out my giant garage!)
This one was easy peasy. Three little nesting tables that I bought off of Facebook Marketplace. I sanded the tops down and stained them then painted the legs with Heirloom Traditions Paint in bone. That’s the same paint I used for all 8 chairs that I painted and reupholstered two years ago.
Next one not so easy…
I bought a bedroom set over 12 years ago for the guest suite. Real wood. Very sturdy and well made. But very UGLY.
Alan and Lauri had just renovated the basement and the set moved there and stayed ugly until last year. Lauri moved the bed and armoire to their new home. And I refinished the dresser with plans to also do the bedside table.

And finally this weekend I put the final touches on the nightstand.
Trying to get all the stain out of those curly cues was quite the job. I must have tried every stripper on the market. And don’t look at it too closely—I’m not crazy about that phrase, “Done is better than perfect”, but with my refinishing skills, I’m good with it.
One more that wasn’t as difficult. This nightstand. Stripped down the top, stained, painted the rest of it with paint from Heirloom Traditions in Polo. Put on new handles. I love it. Obviously, Athena loves it, too!

Anyhow…..
There are more pieces in my big garage waiting to be updated. But no hurry. I now have plenty of room to pull the car in if necessary. And I’m looking for two matching twin beds and a kitchen table on FB Marketplace.
And tomorrow I’ll be back to quilting!
