Another Scrappy Project
One last scrappy project. These are Patchwork Bird Ornaments. Based on a pattern from Jacquelynn Stevens.
I made this piece using the “Quilt as you Go” method. The same way that I used to make last week’s Christmas Pillow. For this one I just made long strips and stitched them down to batting.
Then I used the pattern to cut out bird bodies and wings.
I didn’t change much from the original tutorial. I machine-stitched the wings on with a blanket stitch–they are supposed to be hand-stitched just along the top. Added a ribbon for hanging then I put right sides together and stitched around the edges, leaving an opening on the bottom. Clipped the curves and points, turned right side out through the opening. Stuffed with fiberfill and hand-stitched the opening closed.
I think they really work well with the Scrappy Christmas Stockings.
And the Christmas Patchwork Pillow!
These are really quick and easy to put together. And they are fun!
