And we have a floor!
Where we started in May:
And after many many hours of cleaning and painting….
And the new flooring!
This is “Luxury Vinyl Plank.” We put the same product in the Old Homosassa Learning Center several years ago with really good results. We held a lot of community group meetings and exercise classes in there with no wear or tear on the floor. (Of course, Hurricane Helene just flooded Homosassa and I heard that the learning center had water in the building for the first time ever. Hopefully they can get it dried out!)
And what did we do to stop the rain from seeping in?
- Two seals, one under the overhead garage door. Another one immediately outside the door.
- One rubber stopper piece on the inside.
- Silicone around the door.
- Flooring laid the short way of the room rather than running the long way. In case water does get in, we can pull up the flooring and dry it out.
We haven’t had any big rain storms since we put the seals down so it hasn’t been tested yet. (But I’m kinda confident that all of our efforts will work!)
I’ve been going through all the moving boxes of my sewing supplies and sorting them into large clear totes plus marking them. Eventually hoping to put them into cabinets and shelves.
There is still plenty of upgrades to take place. Reinstalling the trim is up next. I need more shelving for all the fabric and supplies. I would also like to replace all of the fluorescent fixtures. Also excited that my son has committed to putting up a design wall.
I would really like to have several workstations for:
- Quilting
- Tote, bag and toy making
- Serger
- Cricut
- Office stuff
It will all come with time. Meanwhile I am really happy that I have a dedicated sewing and quilting space.
I have a couple projects started but thought I’d ask the magic eight-ball, “Will I have any projects finished this week to post?”
Back to work in the studio!
