A mixed bag…or box…or project…
Ok.
Continuing with my infatuation with creating baskets, I found this free felt basket tutorial on Suzy Quilts.
Since I brought almost all of my wool-blend felt with me from ND, I have been looking for more fun felt projects so this was perfect!
I made the medium size. It’s easy. All hand stitched. There is even a video tutorial on the website.
But. What do I do with this little box? Yeah, it’s cute. But….pretty useless. Until I put some wonder clips in it along with a needle magnet, needles, and thread. Made some felt turkeys while streaming shows. (“All Her Fault” on Hulu–slow but you gotta watch all the episodes to really enjoy it!)
I found another textile basket on pinterest that I’ll want to try next. Might be a few weeks since I have some other projects that I’m finishing up.
Speaking of stitching up turkeys, in honor of Thanksgiving, I made a new turkey and gave to Jes, cut out another which may or may not be finished before the big feast, and repaired this one.
Athena found it as a kitten and my hand stitching didn’t hold up to her little murder claws and teeth. I stitched everything back together after discovering the carnage but she ripped it apart again. She’s 3 1/2 now and when I fixed it this time, she wasn’t interested. Turkey may live to see another Thanksgiving!
The free turkey pattern is from Deliah Iris Designs. She has lots of fun felt patterns. I bought the skeleton pattern from her a few years ago. I have made several of those cuties!
So my updated fowl looks very cute with the pumpkins I made in October and the NEW TABLE RUNNER I just finished!
I made these four maple leaves last year with Tilda fabrics but had no plans for them.
Finally decided to turn them into a table runner. I considered putting a different pattern on the back so I could use it year round and then decided nope, if I do that, I’ll never get it finished because I have to ponder all the fabric and patterns. So I just continued the blue Tilda fabric on the back. This is entirely made from Tilda fabrics. Love it!
And one last photo, just because Athena is so cute!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
