A little Christmas Stitching
I had planned on “revealing” the 2021 Christmas quilt top today but it’s not quite ready.”Not quite” is an understatement. I started on a different project and went down that rabbit hole and never went back to the quilt. Oh well. Maybe next week!
This is not that project–it’s not ready either!
While I was unpacking my thousand boxes of Christmas decor, I came across this finished embroidery piece. (OK, not really a thousand boxes but it seemed like it at the time.)
What a pleasant surprise!
I made this during the holidays last year. By the time I finished it, I was a little tired of Christmas projects so didn’t turn it into the wall hanging that it deserved to be.
It took me a very long time to find the pattern that I worked from so I could share the info with you and give the designer credit. I’ve got an iPad, a notebook, and a desktop computer. I download to all three. I keep my desktop very organized but the other two–not so much. Anyhow, I never did find it on any electronic devices but did find the paper pattern in my file. This is from Aimee Ray from Little Deer and it’s free! There is also a “Merry & Bright” pattern download which I hope to make this year. Like I already mentioned, It was a really nice surprise finding the Woodland Animal Tree pattern all nicely finished and ready for framing. Almost like an early Christmas gift!
I believe that last year I had planned on framing with an embroidery hoop because I have one that is the perfect size in my stash. But this year I had bigger ideas. I made it into a mini-wall hanging. I used the double sided fusible Hobbs Heirloom cotton batting. I had used it for a nap sized quilt last year and it was a disaster. Kept pulling up along the sides. But worked perfectly for this small wall hanging.
I used some of the fabric from Amy Sinibaldi’s line for Art Gallery “Little Town Winterberry Mist” for the binding. I originally bought it for last year’s Christmas quilt.
I love that print. I also used it in the reindeer wall hanging from last year so I just made a little holiday grouping.
So Christmasy!
And just like that, my house is decorated! And I am too!
