Quilty Progress
It’s the middle of July and it’s time for Christmas in July! That’s what numerous instagram accounts and blogs are posting. And I have to admit, I do start making plans for quilts and gifts in July. Cause they take a long time. But this year I haven’t even started considering it. Yikes! I’m still wanting to make a patriotic quilt for the summer in red, white, and blue. Maybe I’ll start it at Christmas and have it ready for Summer 2022! That totally makes sense!
Anyhow. Got back from a long vacation. Do you look for local quilt shops when you vaca? We went to Garrison, North Dakota to visit my son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids for several days.
Garrison is a small town and I really didn’t expect to find a quilt shop there. But I was mistaken! Not just one but two! Right across the street from each other. (And even better–there’s an ice cream shop!) I went to the “Merry Moose” quilt shop first. Bought this fabric from the “Shine On” line from Bonnie and Camille for Moda. (Blew my quilt budget there so didn’t get anything at the other shop. Next time!)
It fits right in with the Bonnie & Camille line “Sunday Stroll” that I bought in June. The fabrics are so sweet I had to put them on a cake plate! Yum!
I plan on using the rainbows on white in a baby quilt that I’m working on. Here’s the start.
The rainbows will be in the remaining 12 blocks. I want to have this done by August 8th for the baby shower! More about this quilt next Thursday!
I have three other quilts in various stages but not in a hurry on any of those. I’m also running a weekly sewing and crafting workshop at the Old Homosassa Learning Center. Most of the attendees have some sewing experience and I just help them along on their projects. But no experience is necessary. The workshop is open to all crafts and we do have knitters and crocheters stop by. It’s mainly a place for people to make new friends and socialize. Bring your sewing machine or craft. We can hang.
Here’s what we worked on this week–fabric Pumpkins!
Okay. Hoping to have that baby quilt done next week…..but who knows what life will bring in those seven days??????
