Random Stitchy Thoughts
I have not been able to stick with one project over the past few weeks. Because I’m waiting…..
Well, I did finish a quilt. Have to take some glamour shots and then I will post. But once I was finished with that, I looked around for some more projects to finish.
Went to my second Moda Blockheads 3 quilt. I was border line obsessed with getting it pulled together. And I ran out of the background fabric. I needed one more 12 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ piece. ONE MORE! My fault because I used some of the fabric for the binding on the first BH3 quilt. This started out as twin sized but I decided to add borders to fit on my queen sized guest bed. I’m now waiting for the arrival of the fabric to finish it! Any day now!
I bought a tote pattern from NoodleHead.com, “Firefly”. I usually design my own bags but thought I’d check out how a professional puts her patterns and tutorials together. So far, the instructions are really detailed. I had purchased the fabric a few weeks before I downloaded the pattern and there were several items in the instructions that were recommended that I didn’t have. I ordered most of it from Joanne’s and was totally amazed when it arrived the next day! What! I immediately started cutting out the pieces and stitching parts together and then I realized I didn’t have the cotton webbing that I needed for the handles which was the next step. I always have that in my stash so I was quite surprised that I had run out. Poor planning on my part! Now I have to wait for that to arrive!
Moved on to design the daytime version of the “Tell Me a Story” quilt. Here’s the nighttime version, just in case you want to know what I’m writing about.
I’m pretty excited that I have a vision for this new piece–flowers, the sun, rabbits, and butterflies. I’ve done some sketching. I wanted to use a brighter green but the same fabric line for the grass. Of course, it’s no longer made and not available on my usual online fabric sites but I did find some on Etsy. Yippee for Etsy! I should have enough fabric in my stash for the rest of the quilt.
There were SO MANY fabric sales to celebrate Memorial Day. I am really trying to only order fabric as I need it. But. I couldn’t resist. I LOVE aqua and red together. And I love the designers Bonnie and Camille from Moda. I’m thinking new kitchen potholders. A new apron. Or maybe something else. In this case I’m waiting for inspiration to strike!
While I’m in wait mode. Might as well cook….
I want to highly recommend Giada De Laurentiis’ latest cookbook “Eat Better, Feel Better”. I’ve tried several recipes and they are all so good. I’ve made the “Penne with Spicy Calabrian Shrimp”, the “Chocolate Chip-Quinoa Cookies”, and the “Maple and Olive Oil Quinoa Granola” several times. While my daughter and her husband were visiting in April we tried to make at least one of the recipes every day! Yum!
And if all of my supplies don’t arrive soon, I could probably finish painting the deck, or pull some weeds, or read a book! While I wait.
