Moda BlockHeads 3, Blocks 10, 11, and 12
As soon as I finished my “Scrappy Times I” quilt last week, I started back into the Moda BlockHeads 3 quilt along.
I also began pulling bits and pieces from my fabric stash to make Scrappy Time 2 and I was also working on some other projects like making Fernie the Fox a friend or two. More about that in a future post if I ever get them done! But OMG they are so cute that I had to share them! It’s so much fun having the time to spend in my creative cave!
So back to Moda Blockhead 3. I made block 10 in the 6″ size. Windmill is from Stacy Iest Hsu. Quick and easy piecing.
Next up is Blooming Love by Robin Pickens. I struggled with this one only because I didn’t have enough fabric left for how I wanted to put the block together. So I made another 6″ block. Not too difficult. Now that I look at the photo, it’s pretty obvious that I used two different yellows!
For block 12 I KNEW I was making a 12″ block. Look at all those bits and pieces! Hampshire Star is from Janet Clare. I used just about all of the pinks I had from the Spotted Stash and mixed in some bright orange. I love that color combo. This block was HARD! I took pictures of the block while I was piecing it and studied each pic just to make sure that all the colors were in the correct order.
I’m pleased with how it turned out. Almost all of the points are there and lined up so nicely!
And here’s all three for this week….
Block 13 came out yesterday. It’s paper piecing. I started working on it yesterday but couldn’t decide on what colors I should use. I’m tempted to order more pinks and greens–I have plenty of orange–but I am really trying to not give in and buy more fabric for this quilt. (The struggle is real!)
And here are all 12 blocks from the Moda BlockHeads 3–in no special order…
Only 44 blocks left! Ha!
