Hello! 2020!
Yikes! It’s 2020! Most of the blogs I read and Instagram accounts I follow are very optimistic about this new decade. I’m excited to be part of it!
I took a week off here over Christmas. Enjoyed my family. My sewing room was taken, so no sewing projects were started, worked on, or completed. I did some kayaking, bicycling, walking. Having some spare time always makes me more creative.
I’ve been thinking about stuff.
Like this blog. And my other one. Where are they going? Where have they been? Where did all my readers go? And do I continue? I know, you’ve heard this before but….
2020 will be a year of change for my blogs, “Designs by KTGreen” and “Just a Slice of Life in Perfect”. So, if you go to one of them, and they aren’t online, changes are happening! I put some thought into shutting them down. And I still might. People are moving to Instagram. Emails and phone calls are passe’. Texts and twitter are the way to communicate. That’s okay. Change is good! Time for me to change, too! I know that I will maintain an online presense. Just have to decide how much time and effort I am ready to put into it for this new decade.
Onto my goals….
Number ONE goal for 2020 is being more mindful. I’ve been trying to practice this but am a huge failure. For instance, back on Labor Day, I ran my bicycle into a pole. Because I was distracted. Which is another long story. I was looking behind me and I turned around just in time to see the impending collision. I think I hit the brakes, tried to get off and started falling. As I fell, I thought, this isn’t so bad…and then my head hit the pavement. I was not wearing my helmet.
This could have been so much worse. We went back to this trail on Thanksgiving and I snapped the photo below. There’s the pole i ran into and the rock my head did NOT crash down on. I was very lucky. Some road rash. Lump on my head. Bruised ribs. I now ALWAYS wear my helmet. (My bicycle wasn’t quite as lucky!)
And then on this past Tuesday I was running late. Grabbed my purse and glasses and ran out the door. Went to my meeting. No glasses. Have searched the entire house, Jeep, the trash. I have misplaced them before but never totally lost them. I suspect they fell out of the Jeep somehow. Somewhere. Again. I was distracted.
Mindfulness. That’s my number one goal and really do not know how to achieve it. Mindfulness.
Next up, I’m going to finish all of my sewing projects that I have started and tucked away when I was distracted by another priority. (Being distracted seems to be the issue here!) I took a few minutes to just pull all my UFOs out. And there are six. Three quilts. One camera strap. One beer bag. And the ingredients for a rope bowl. Oh wait, I have the fabric to recover my sewing chair. So that’s seven! (And there’s probably more that I have tucked into some lost basket.) I’ll still be doing other sewing and crafting projects. I’m giving myself a year to finish the others!
So that’s it for 2020.
Oh wait, one more…I’m going to read my camera manual! Starting now!
