Cats in Pajamas — one last post
Is anyone else bored with the cats. I am. Except I have developed a bit of an addiction. I must make cats!
But FINALLY. I’m done with the cats…..I can move on. (Hoping that I’m free from the “must make cats” weakness.)
I had considered taking the quilt top to DC and doing the basting, quilting and binding in the apartment. Its a lot easier to fly with a quilt top in your carry on rather than a finished quilt. But I realized that I don’t have a place to do the glue basting so I just went ahead and did it all in my lovely sewing studio in ND.
This quilt is 52 wide by 54 1/2″ long. The pattern from Elizabeth Hartman lists the size as 55″ x 55″. But I didn’t have quite enough backing and sacrificed 1 1/2″ on each side of the quilt.

I’m not a big fan of dense quilting. For this one I did just enough (hopefully) for the batting to stay where it should! Did a stitch in the ditch around the cats. Some serpentine stitch. Some straight line. I used “warm and natural” batting * and it’s supposed to be okay up to 10″ apart. I’m keeping this quilt so will be checking out how it holds up.
I machine stitched the binding. I like the look of handstitched binding but I just didn’t want to take the time. I have other stuff to do! Like playing with my grandkids!

And me and these cats are done! (Although I have to admit that I’ll use any excuse to make more! They are so CUTE!) Those kitties were fun but now it’s back to the Riley Denim quilt and Moda Blockheads 6! (And I’d like to make a couple bags this summer!)
