Quilty Projects
I was in Garrison last week and had to support both quilt shops in town by purchasing lots of fabric. Because I should help the local economy, right?
When I got home I was motivated to get back to sewing. After all, I did have a lot of NEW fabric!
Here’s what my design wall looked like when I returned…..
The blocks on the left are for a new version of the Riley quilt. I’m making two. Both twin size. Because I want to put matching twin beds in one of the guest rooms—the one my granddaughters use when they are here. There is a full size bed in there now–which doesn’t bode well for a tween and a teen. One usually ends up on a couch. (Or floor)
I got back on Facebook just so I could search marketplace to get twin beds for the room. Not successful yet!
I’m also checking out the Moda Blockheads 6. The intro came out yesterday and I plan on joining in. I did BH3 and it was a great learning experience and I have two beautiful quilts from that project. I’m considering using the denim from my stash for the background and reds, whites and blues for the blocks. A Patriotic quilt? We shall see!
And the main quilt for this week is CATS IN PAJAMAS!
I’m addicted to making these smitten kittens. I’ve been rooting through my fabric stash for appropriate pajama and cat fabric and think I have found some fun combinations.
I wasn’t happy with how the calico cat turned out. I took it apart and made a new face.

I finally decided what I would do with this litter. Two cat quilts. Each will have six cats. And there will also be two pillows. One quilt will be gifted to a newborn little girl and a pillow will go to her big sister. And the other will be going to our apartment in DC. When Arthur visits he will have his own cat quilt and pillow. Like the rest of the family, my little grandson loves cats!
Six cats for the first quilt, although I will probably change a few of them out for the second quilt as I make new ones.
And another four……plus one on my sewing table.
Okay. I am making two kitty quilts and two pillows, but I might actually continue making these cats just because they are fun to stitch up AND I can use a lot of the small pieces of favorite fabric that I have tucked away!
And…….
Can you believe that it is Memorial Day weekend already? Our first summer and patriotic holiday. Time is flying by…..
