This week!
I saw a post on Instagram that resonated with me. The parents, or grandparents, or children hid notes for each other. Reminded me of my own granddaughters. Messages tucked into drawers or piles of fabric. I still have them. And I keep them hidden from my everyday. I left them in the fabric or the drawers and moved them across the country exactly where they were left. When I come across them as I am searching for things, it just puts a smile on my face and warms my heart.
One of my favorite pics from Piper when she was 5….

Okay, back to the real world…..
I just feel like I gotta give a kitchen update every few weeks but …….no updates. Still waiting.
But the more time I spend in my tiny kitchen in the basement, the more stuff I have moved in to make cooking easier. I will soon have a fully functioning kitchen! A hotplate, microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven, I’ve got it all! Everything except a wee dining table!
Soon we will have a fully functioning basement apartment to rent out to a nice older couple. Oh wait, that’s us! Perhaps some young people with kids should move upstairs!
It’s cold here! And it’s May in a few days! The heat is still out in my sewing studio but my son brought me three space heaters. With those set up in my sewing studio and a two hour wait, I can work in there. This week we are looking for a better solution. The gas monster in the corner will be replaced!
Thanks to the temporary heaters, I’ve been working on organizing my sewing studio. I moved most of my sewing machines and supplies into the house before we went to DC since the heat didn’t work. Which was a good thing because it got down to NEGATIVE 38 DEGREES this past winter! How cold is that? All of the food in my refrigerator in the garage was frozen. Solid.
And besides moving equipment and storing supplies, I FINALLY put my design wall together. Just need it attached to the wall. Waiting for some victim to stop by– “hey can you climb on a ladder and use a drill?”
Baby steps…..

Saw that Reznor heating unit.
I know that you grew up only a few miles away from the company in Mercer. Did you know that the great grandson of the founder is Trent Reznor, also known as Nine Inch Nails. He went to school with my cousin Jon.
I did not know any of that! I know my son keeps telling me that the Reznor is great! It is just huge for my sewing space. There is another one in the garage next door. There was some kind of business here before. And NIN! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll tell my son, he will be excited to hear!
