Halloween Craftiness
I’m posting on Tuesday because Thursday is Halloween! And that might be too late if you would like to make this week’s project!
I’m still using up scraps and hexies and I made these treat bags for the grandchildren with some of those bits and pieces. I finished them just in time to give to three of the kids this weekend–full of candy and cookies.
I followed the tutorial from In Color Order which I have used for Christmas gift bags in the past.
The instructions are very clear for the gift bag and easy to change up.
For three of the bags I used up almost all of the hexies.
I wanted to use the “Boo” FPP block that I made last week for one of the bags and needed to change the size to use the block. This one is going to my 2-year-old grandson and I thought he might need something to hold onto so I also added straps. I used some pieces of “ByAnnie Soft & Stable” to add some structure to the base of the bag.
By the way, It’s easy to change the sizes. Just adjust the measurements to match. The lining should be the same length as the exterior and accent fabric after they are stitched together. Divide this number in half and add 1/2” for seam allowances and cut two pieces. Then you can follow the diagram on the tutorial by “In Color Order”.
For the final bag, I pieced several scraps together and had a cute little patchwork. (I’m keeping this one!)
I still had some small bits and 5 hexies left so I made a hot pad/mug rug.
Then I cut the larger pieces that I had left into 4 1/2” squares and ended up with 16 pieces ready for future Halloween projects! (To go with next year’s edition of spooky fabrics)
I really enjoying making all of the Halloween projects that I featured this year. I finished a quilt, one table runner for my daughter-in-law and another for my daughter, a huge Halloween tote which my youngest granddaughter snapped up for her trick-or-treat rounds. (She must be expecting a lot of goodies to fill up that bag!)
Time to move on……
Thanksgiving is right around the corner!
