Dinosaurs Quilt
I went to my local quilt shop to buy fabric for the backing and binding. While I fess up to ordering stuff from Etsy, I like to look at these in person to make sure they match up with the quilt. Too many times have I ordered fabric online and am disappointed with it.
I also like to walk in circles in the shop and touch everything.
Anyhow…..
When I got back to the car I remarked to Terry that “Quilting is an expensive hobby. I should find a craft that costs a bit less.”
Then we went to the grocery store. And when we returned to the car, I said “Eating is an expensive hobby, we should figure out a way to give that up!”
One or the other has to go!
Anyhow….
All of the dinosaurs are done! And most of the block units are stitched together–only the two units on the bottom need more sewing. I would have had them all pieced but I forgot to buy spray starch while on that expensive grocery shopping trip. And I still needed to starch some of the green background fabric. Spray starch was on the shopping list. And I had the list with me. Guess I didn’t read it! (Don’t tell Terry! That’s one of his pet peeves with me. I either don’t make a list, forget the list I made, or don’t read the list.)
So here is the fabric that I have picked for the backing and binding along with the background fabric from the front of the quilt. The green and white piece there is the fabric that my daughter purchased for the blinds I made for Arthur’s bedroom. I think they are all happy together. I always want my fabrics to be happy!
I am so close to the end! Just have to finish up the piecing, borders, basting, quilting, binding.
OMG! JUST!
I am taking a wee bit of a break from this quilt once I get those two block units finished. I am very goal oriented but I am also overwhelmed with all the work and time this project has taken.
I think I need to make something else before I go back to the Dinosaurs. A tunic? A softie? A tote?
This was supposed to Arthur’s Christmas present. I think it might be his birthday present. May 26th. This sweet boy will be one year old. New goal!

So many pieces. So AWESOME! I’ve always wanted to try an Elizabeth Hartmann quilt. Maybe/maybe not. Your grandson will love it. You are getting close! Hang in there.
Thanks Pamela! I also wanted to make an Elizabeth Hartmann quilt and a new grandson was a good excuse. But I had no idea it would take this long! But it will be adorable!
Beautiful beautiful! So colorful so he will love it!!
Terry
By the time I get it finished, his parents might be tired of dinosaurs! It is colorful. Looks great in my creative cave!
