November Wrap Up
From the middle of October through the middle of November is a crazy busy time for me.
The Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival–I’ve mentioned it many times over the years. Terry and I started running the event back in 2015 and were responsible for just about everything. Terry continues as the chairperson but we now have people in place. It’s still a lot of work but it’s also a lot of fun and we make a lot of money to give back to our community. Here is my shirt-selling team from Saturday morning.
I went out and worked at the gates collecting entrance fees after this photo was snapped since I only needed four workers in the shirt booth. Three more teams worked the weekend selling shirts with four hour shifts. (I did work those shifts!) A lot of those volunteers work both days and move around to different stations. It’s a great weekend. Oh yeah, we had a hurricane threat the week of the festival and had flooding rain storms on Thursday. The community came together and we were able to get the grounds cleaned up and ready for the event on Saturday morning. Takes a village!
Our ukulele group performed at the festival. We have some “concerts” coming up with Christmas music at local venues. So much fun! Note all those orange shirts in this photo were volunteers working on Sunday morning that took an hour off to entertain!
Between the festival and Thanksgiving I did squeeze in some sewing and crafting. I posted about the Christmas trees last week which were fun and easy and I almost have my little Christmas village completed. I got a few more dinosaurs blocks done for the Dinosaurs quilt plus I made these really sweet pillows for a couple little boys that I shared Thanksgiving dinner with.
I picked up the Christmas dinosaur fabric at Beyond the Stitches, my local quilt shop. The pattern is one I made several years ago and posted on my former blog. You can get the instructions here. But, I have to admit, that they are a little difficult to follow. I plan to update them and post them on this blog. Perhaps in the new year which is right around the corner!
As far as my monthly book reading goes…..I actually finally got to download the latest Stephen King novel from the elibrary. I had reserved it waaaaay back in September. But I am just not up to reading right now. Sending it back tomorrow. Guess I’ll need to buy it in order to read it on my own time!
Anyhow. Just wanted to explain why I haven’t been keeping up with my sewing and quilting posts. But I’m back to sewing, quilting, crafting & posting. And maybe I’ll have the mind set to read a book next month!
