Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL–Week 4
This is “catch-up” week for the Ruby Star Society Perfect Picnic Quilt SAL. I had already finished all of my blocks so thought I would get the entire quilt pieced then start on the wall hanging. Easy-Peasy.
The next step which I am assuming is for week 5 is putting the 1,2,3, and 4 blocks into A, B, C, and D units.
While I was making each block, I made sure that no two like pieces were together. But when I laid the entire quilt out on the floor, I found two on the diagonal that were twins. I told myself “that’s not bad”. But after a few days of looking at it and rearranging, I just had to replace those offending pieces. Got the ripper out. Sad but true.
Didn’t take long and I was able to get A,B,C, and D units created. And then I saw that I had mixed up two of the bottom blocks. Yikes! Back to my friendly ripper!
This was supposed to be easy-peasy! But I do have a distraction. Which may account for some of my mistakes.
I have a kitten. She is all teeth and claws and “what can I get into?” and “how high can I climb?” and “yes, I can open that drawer with my little paws!” Besides me being worried about her getting burnt on the iron or her toes getting stitched over while sewing, she really loves my wool pressing mat and in about 5 seconds she used it as a scratching pad and shredded a large chunk. And I was standing there. That’s how fast she. I have given up sewing while she is awake. (Instead, I’m watching all four seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale while I throw toys at her to chase.) While I thought I would get to finish this quilt top and start another this week, didn’t happen.
BUT ALL FOUR UNITS ARE COMPLETE! And I think I’m happy with them!
Not happy with this one, though.
But. She’s so Freaking Cute. It gets better, right?

I’d suggest getting another kitten so what one does think of the other does!! Enjoy the antics and she is so cute!
Yikes! I can’t imagine dealing with two. I’d have double the puncture wounds! Surely she slow down in a few months!
