Progress
This is a pic of my “feral” cat attacking my sandals.
Have to admit that the cat has a thing about feet. If socks are left on the floor, she carries them into the family room like they are a trophy. My shoes or sandals are attacked as soon as I remove them. Cracks me up.
I found the cat who we now call “Miss Kitty” in my driveway. Coaxed her in with expensive deli meat. What I thought was a feral creature was litter trained and when on the operating table, sedated and shaved to get spayed I was called by the surgeon that she had a “tattoo”. I had no clue what that meant at that point but after research….the tattoo means they have already been spayed. Miss Kitty avoided surgery.
I wasn’t looking for a pet. When we lost Maggie, our Jack Russell that we had from a six-week puppy until she passed away when she was over 18, Terry said no more animals. It’s too heartbreaking when they leave us. But. There was Miss Kitty hungry, sad and lost. And she has been my house Kitty ever since. but who dumped her? Spayed. Litter trained. Sweet. (well, she does like to bite me)
I am thrilled to have her. But it angers me to think someone just threw her out like trash and she had to fend for herself for days, weeks, months, until I found her.
But she is now living her best life.
Okay. Off of my soap box.
There has been progress on my projects.
I finished my grandkids costume head wear. They were definitely a challenge. Took many of my sewing and thinking hours. But it was totally worth it. Their dad (my son) FaceTimed us while the box was opened. The girls were SO excited. Made it all worthwhile. Looking forward to seeing the complete costumes on Halloween. I’ll try to put something together next week and post.
Happy to say that now that their costumes are finished, I can get back to sewing stuff for me!
I haven’t started yet, but I need to make our costumes for the best Halloween party on this side of the Homosassa River…this was mine from two years ago.. last years was canceled because you know what.
The hat, cape and mask are all from free tutorials at Sew4Home.com.
I made a little progress on the Daytime Quilt. I’ve got four rabbits now. I want to make one more hummingbird and then I can start piecing everything together. After that step, I’ll applique the flowers and rabbits on.
While I’m not starting any quilts until the Daytime Quilt top is finished, I’ve decided on my Christmas quilt for 2021. (Might not get done in 2021!) Not buying new fabrics. Time for a scrappy quilt. I’ve had these fat quarters from Free Spirit for several years. I’ve used them in a few quilts and love all of these pretties so much. Going to mix them with some basics. Think it will be amazing!
Almost have my last “Let’s Go Tote” completed. Then I have to do some touch up on the tutorial.
Besides sewing, I’m also franticly working on the Homosassa Arts, Crafts, and Seafood Festival that is November 13 & 14. I do most of the graphic design, social media, and the website plus I head up the t-shirt committee. My really busy time is NOW! We just picked our t-shirt design for this year. Isn’t this amazing?
Our local artist Gil Watson again agreed to create the art work. He did an octopus design in 2017 and it sold out by noon on the first day! So we’ve more than doubled the order plus doing canvas prints and posters. We couldn’t have the festival last year and really need to go BIG this year so we can continue funding all of our many causes and projects in our community.
If you attend the festival. Look for me. I’ll have an orange shirt on. Along with about 100 other volunteers!

Gotta love a cat! No expensive toys needed!! (Don’t tell A&J cause I think they are keeping the pet store in business)
My cat loved pipe cleaners!
Can’t wait to see the girls in costume!
