Autumn Decor
I’ve been working on headwear for two of my grandkids’ Halloween costumes. Haven’t been able to get back to sewing totes or quilts yet but should be finished with this fun project this week and send them off in priority mail.
I did get all my Autumn decor out although it’s 90 degrees here in Homosassa and I’m wearing a sundress. But that’s Florida in September. Soon enough I’ll be wearing long sleeves and closed toes again!
And just in case you might want to update your home with some new handcrafted lovelies, I thought I’d give you some links to Autumn projects that I’ve made in the past.
Last year I went head over heels with this Squirrely Girl fabric from Bunny Hill Designs from Moda. It may no longer be available at Fat Quarter Shop but I did find some on Etsy. Of course, you certainly don’t need that fabric to make these fun projects.
Let’s start with the pumpkins. I made mine from a free pattern from Ameroonie Designs. You can check out my post about the pumpkins here.
We also made them in my “Sew Cool & Crafty” Workshop recently. When one of the ladies had trouble with stitching the stems on by hand, another member said “just hot glue ’em on”. Oh. Never thought of that. Thinking outside the sewing box!
Here’s some snaps from the pumpkin workshop.
Besides pumpkins, I have made many pillows to celebrate the season.
I made the “hello” pillow back in 2014 and the link to that post is on my old website, KTGreenDesign. The website is still there and you can look at the post. For now– I’ll eventually be closing that site up. But that could be a while since I have lots of other more interesting projects to do!
I made the maple leaf pillow back in 2016. I remember very clearly how much fun this was to pull together. I checked out the link for the pattern in that post and it doesn’t go anywhere now. But this is a common quilt block that you can find many free versions on Pinterest.
The Squirrely Girl pillow is lumbar size and my very favorite pillow. I have made many covers to change out the pillow for all the seasons!
One of my favorite makes is potholders and hot pads. Here’s my Squirrely Girl version.
I made these for a “Friendsgiving” hostess gift using the same pattern.
And, of course, tea towels. I’ve made SO many for every season and as hostess gifts. These I have kept. And I don’t let anyone actually use them! They are so pretty!
So. If you are looking for some easy Autumn projects that you can pull together quickly to update your fall decor, I hope this post helps!
Happy Autumn. I can already smell the humidity dropping!
