2019 Goals
Is anyone else out there messed up with what day of the week it is? Having the holidays on a Tuesday along with having a house full of family has really confused my sense of time. It seems like every day is Sunday! But I gotta get back on track. Today is Thursday and I thought I’d share some goals for 2019!
First, I’ve got to learn how to use my CriCut Maker. Inside and Out. I tend to buy “toys” then don’t really use them to their full potential. No more toys until I get this one figured out.
Be a better photographer. I’m okay. I could be better. Again, another “toy” that I’ve been playing with since I was about 8 years old when I got my first little Kodak. I’d like to get a new Canon DSLR with wireless capability but I already have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 that I don’t use to it’s full potential. On that idea, you might see a new “widget” on the side of my post with some photos.
I don’t plan to sew or quilt more. I already spend two to three hours every morning with my sewing machine, cutting board, and ironing board!
I would like to get back into mosaics. I have some areas in my yard that could use some pretty stepping stones! But that’s not a top priority.
I will play my banjo, piano, and ukulele more. I’ve been trying to play at least two of the above every day. I don’t expect to get any better. But I will enjoy my music!
I’m always in a big hurry. So much that I want to accomplish. Sometimes I feel that my hours spent at the Old Homosassa Learning Center are such a drain on my time. But. I love everything I do there. I want to change my attitude. Probably the most difficult goal of all. I will learn to look forward to my schedule. Instead of thinking, scheesh, I’m at the Learning Center for 6 hours today. How will I get anything else done? I’m going to think. Lucky me. I have yoga for an hour then jam in the ukulele group for a couple hours then get to teach the small children how to play ukulele. I like each and every one of these sessions. I will REJOICE in the opportunity!
Lose 15 pounds. (Ha! Fat chance of that happening!)
Anyhow, those are my goals! Not too many–think I can handle them!
Now it’s time for a quick review of the quilts I finished this year. In 2017 I made SEVEN quilts!
In 2018 I only finished four! What! I felt like I did a lot more. I love quilting. I especially love designing the quilts and picking out the fabrics. But I might have been a bit distracted with other sewing projects. I did design a few totes and posted about them and then made several. I also worked with members of the Sew Cool Workshop so they could make the totes. You will not believe how many of these bags went out as Christmas and birthday gifts this year from our little sewing group!
So, here are the quilts that I stitched up in 2018:
I finished “Down the Rabbit Hole” in May.
In September I finished “Tyger, Tyger, Burning Bright” and gave it to a friend for her 60th birthday.
Finished “Fall into a QAL” in December and sent it to my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas.
The last quilt for 2018 was the “Sew Many Squares” that I cut out with my Cricut Maker and gave to my husband just a few weeks ago!
I am blessed that I have the time to sew, create and design. I’m hoping to make more quilts in 2019 and I’m working on a new tote design.
Have a WONDERFUL new year!
